“Why would making neighborhoods more transit-oriented increase heat resilience?”

Cars and car infrastructure generate and store large amounts of waste heat. Whether it be from the heat exhaust released by automobiles or the thick roads that keep it inside, there seems to be something that makes it worse. So what can we do to solve this? Well, what if we were to shift the neighborhood to a more transit-oriented structure? This would allow for more heat resilient elements such as trees, grassy streets, and shade to be implemented. If this happens, neighborhoods would become cooler (both definitions) and resilient to heatwaves. This is Why Making Neighborhoods More Transit-Oriented Would Increase Heat Resilience.
