Getting food ready takes a large amount of energy and labor, from getting the food ready for production, to getting it shipped off, and to storage. Much of this goes to satisfy wealthy communities’ voluminous appetites. However, if gluttony was reduced, then fewer people would overeat and it would lead to fewer carbon emissions.
