Climate adaptation research is often taken place on a segmented basis, with each group operating on its own. However, this can be partially solved through the use of Climate Adaptation Research Competitions. This allows teams to get together and see who has the best ideas on the subject. This can be facilitated in many different ways, ranging from having people organize around a single topic like sea-level rise in Rio de Janeiro to letting people design their own open-ended research projects and then evaluating them.
