A certain billionaire is (as of writing) thinking about purchasing Twitter and stopping all controls and filters. While this is being marketed as making the website a haven of free speech, it would actually let authoritarian governments and movements take over information flow and lead to mass political manipulation. This will lead to more authoritarian governments taking power and pushing unsustainable policies, which in turn will lead to increased climate emissions and global catastrophe.
