“How can we build economic resilience to wildfires?”
Wildfires are becoming an even more serious threat in Mediterranean climates. This will pose serious threats to their nature-based economies, whether it be wineries in California or tourism sites in Portugal. To prevent unnecessary economic damage, we will need to invest in Wildfire Economic Resilience and modify our structures around the issue. Examples include using fire-adapted shrubbery or learning controlled-burning techniques from indigenous people.
