Waste often ends up in landfills. Landfills are typically located near environmental justice communities due to race/class/caste oppression. The more waste is produced, the more these communities have to deal with problems associated with them. If less waste is produced, then there will be fewer problems. Of course, removing the landfills from community proximity is a much better idea, but this is something that can help in the meantime.
