The climate is changing. And one of the most brutal aspects of it is occurring in dry climates right now. As dry climates become drier, some of them are becoming at risk of being reclassified as deserts. This shift will induce systemic ecosystem change that could result in millions of not billions losing food access. Desertification is a strong issue that must be dealt with considerably.
