Research on the global south is a hot topic around the world. Unfortunately, it’s all too common to see researchers more more privileged, global north backgrounds lead research on these states. This means that people from the regions who have a better understanding of what is actually going on get shunned. But if they were to lead their research instead, the output would be much better.
